Don’t Pity Me.

By Raghad Ebied

 You just don’t know
You don’t see
What dignity resides in me

You think I am oppressed
You pity me
Thinking I hate who I be

Won’t you please
Look beyond your toes
And realize the honoured way of life I chose

Won’t you please
Stop believing the lies
And listen to my innermost cries

Can’t you see the truth
Or are you too scared to see
What my faith has made of me

This scarf that I wear proudly on my head
Is much more than a piece of cloth
It is my identity and without it, I will surely be at loss

If you can’t understand my choice
And if you will not accept me
Then please, at least don’t pity me.
Don’t pity me.

  1. Thx for the advice, and your web page honestly looks very good. Exactly what word press theme are you employing?
